The East End may work perfectly for you! Have you considered staying at "The Emerald" or "Palisade Palms"? Both are high rises located on the East End of the island and are simply a walk across the street to beach.

got this email from Buzz Elton last night:

I was allowed on the Island today for about 2 hours before the curfew. Victorian has a significant amount of damage to the siding, ground floor, gutters, trim etc. Several windows are out but it doesn't appear as if the surge got as high as the first floor. I had staff, engineers, and public adjusters lined up for tomorrow and then mayor said no one will be allowed on the Island tomorrow.

I am new to this board, but not to Galveston. We have stayed at the Casa Del Mar and it is lovely. We made our reservations through Casa Bling.com.

Jay and his wife, Taz are great people! Their site is www.casabling.com or Taz@casabling.com The condo suites that they have online are charming. The Seascape, is awesome! We stayed there on our anniversary a few years ago and were most pleased with having the gulf as our front yard for a whole week. The decor was very everthing you would want in a beach front condo.
