  • Re: Roll call

Hi Guys My hubby got a new knee in Oct. and he has been keeping me hopping. Since I am used to him doing everything for me. I was quite busy. I did find out that I can still cook, (a little) and I can even wash the dishes and the clothes. Thats good to know. I had been letting him do all of that. He has made a good recovery, even if he doesn't think

  • Re: City Council meeting

[quote user="chrismel"] We're back from the meeting, we didn't stay for the whole thing. Some of those council members are pretty long winded(one in particular who shall remain nameless). I spoke this week and I must say at least from a "pull on your heartstrings I love Galveston perspective" I totally rocked. I did get emotional

  • Re: Galveston Photography

[quote user="Lurker"] I'm really not into disaster photography. Maybe because everybody with a camera is shooting the mess. I misplaced my business cards. as soon as I print up some more, I want to take photos of folks rebuilding. I want to document the rebirth. Rebirth isn't the right word. The blossoming of The Island. I'm a

  • Re: What a shot

drewK, old dawg, dave, whoever. It was Bottle Rocket that posted it first on our forum. I ask him where he got it. He said he just got it on the internet. He didn't remember where. That is too bad. That picture says it all.

  • Re: unpaid employees of Galveston College

I did payroll for two different companies in my past work life. That was the biggist no-no there was, to ask the workers to go without pay. If there was a problem with the payroll, I would end up typing out payroll checks on a person to person basis, or "on demand" It would not be "politicially correct" to go to the athorities, but

  • The return of the buildings over the water along Seawall Blvd.

I think I remember one time when the buildings that were out over the gulf were just shells and tattered and boarded up, except for the souviner shop, which I guess was Murdocks. I think they changed the law about building over the gulf about the time that the Flagship was built. And there may have been something already there too. Anyway the places

[quote user="old dawg"] It really is a fantastic shot. Can't think of a picture that could have better captured the essence of the arrival of Ike on Galveston Island. It's as dramatic as the flag raising shot of the Marines on Iwo Jima, isn't it?. And this one wasn't posed. Could become a classic picture of this experience
