Mojo looks like one of them wild and crazy models.  KInda purty for a "tough old nurse" who just rode out a major catastrophic hurricane.  Smile

    Good shot, lurker.  Good model.

I went to the east end of the seawall, to east beach and downtown, taking pix. Nothing really impressive. I'll process and post them on my zenfolio site later.

Awesome pictures, lurker.  The  pictures on your site really do illustrate just how poweful the storm surge was.   I've been in the Strand area and seen that devastation  up close, but I haven't been out to Apfel and East Beach yet, so the pictures of the damage out there really do hit me harder than I thought they would.  The pictures of the gutted remains of the pavilion at East Beach are pretty amazing, and kinda hard to absorb.  I almost didn't recognize it.

Good job of capturing the terrible results of the storm.

I'm really not into disaster photography. Maybe because everybody with a camera is shooting the mess. I misplaced my business cards. as soon as I print up some more, I want to take photos of folks rebuilding. I want to document the rebirth. Rebirth isn't the right word. The blossoming of The Island. I'm a people photographer.

Good shots, gives us an idea how things are on the Strand. Lurker, did you notice how De Vine Wines came out. They are higher than some, gotta go up some stairs to get into the place. Same with Footsies, did you see that store? Thnx. LB

You are unique just like everyone else. Hmm

I didn't look into DeVine Wines. but the front door looked undamaged to me. I think that it may have been above flood level, or sustained very little water damage.

I am not a shopper, and basically ignore retail tourist traps. I'll browse antique shops. I rarely buy anything new.

The hardest thing for me was losing my pics. Lurker I know you ain't much for portraits , but just random photos of folks , (something for them to start a new photo album) Might be a nice gift for the general public.

besides pics you have taken of me ... I prolly have had MAYBE 5 other shots taken of me and friends... thats what is missing in my life . a photo album of recent times... I think places like flicker , and those guys  are to blame fo the lack of photo albums

Like you say, Dix, almost everything can be replaced except photos.  And they are arguably the most valuable of all possessions, at least to me they are.  For some time now, we have  been scanning over fifty years worth of photos and storing them digitally on CD's, external hard drives, and now flash drives, and when we run from storms, those storage media are some of the first things we grab.  We haven't finished that project yet, but we are in better shape now than we once were.  Believe me, the older I get, the more important those pictures become.

I know how you must feel to have lost yours.

Our new scooters arrive tomorrow, so I will be mobile. I have a bunch of new (used/refurbished) photo gear. I hope to be out and about, shooting people.

    Look at my stuff:

That's a really mean looking system there, lurker.  That long lens is a hefty looking sucker.  What kind of a lens is it?
