    Not a good shot, but it shows the freaky stuff infrared would do.  Checkout the plam tree in the lower right.  Since plant life generates heat, effects the infrared film.  I shot this one with a yellow filter at the side of the Galvez.

    I went there right before they closed it down.  Just started working in the downtown area (1987).  Didn't that become Nash DeAmico's??  Or where Luigi's is located  now - was that Nash DeAmico's?  I forgot.

    Where Luigi's went in was the old Nash's.  The Cafe was two blocks down from there.

    When we lived on the strand, Dickenses evening was the only major event we had.  No Marti Gras, no bike rally. The Arts council produced a few small festivals that drew a smaller, but more interesting crowd.

    Living downtown wasn't about organized activities. It was about being there. We probably partied in most of the downtown lofts and apartments. It was cool.

    There is something to what you say.  When I first got to the island, Dickens was it.  There wasn't much on the Strand, really. We all managed to have a good time.  Truly, my fondest memories took place in the off-season, when the island was really quiet, but we found nooks and crannies to party and stay up to the wee hours of the morning.  Living on the Strand later, I was in the middle of the festivals that sprung up.  By about '94 or '95, I had had my fill of it.  I have no pictures past, I guess, '94 or so on.  I started locking up my place and getting off the island during Mardi Gras.  I just burned out on it.

    There are three Galveston groups on Flickr

    <!-- @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } -->

    http://www.flickr.com/groups/galvestontexas/

    http://www.flickr.com/groups/611693@N22/

    http://www.flickr.com/groups/galveston/

    There's a lot of repetition, but there are some folks who'll only post on one of the groups, so check them all.
