  • Sandpiper Motel - Any news on it's status?
    10-08-2009 12:57 PM

Does anyone know what is or will happen to the Sandpiper Motel?  I have not seen any New news articles or any new pics lately?  Just wondering if it will be demolished or fixed back up again?  Most of my trips to the island....my family stayed there & enjoyed the private balcony with the great view of the beach.  Sure hope someone has news for me.  Thanks.

Not a lot has been done toward fixing it up, or demolishing it either, so far as I can see, but I do seem to recall that the family who owns it have said that they had plans for the old place.  Can't recall what, if anything, they said their plans were, however.

Glad to see you posting again, Paxton fan.

I don't think it has been touched. I'll ask one of the guys at Stewart beach if they know anything

We drove by it Friday and it didn't look as if anything is going on - there was the same single pile of blue-covered construction stuff that was there on my last visit in early July.  On the same note, does anyone know what the plans are for the Reef Resort?

Thanks for the update SUEJM.....Sorry, but I know nothing about the Reef Resort.  Heck, I am not even sure where that one is on the island...lol.

It's on Seawall Blvd, in the vicinity of 81st Street, or a bit further west, and I don't believe anybody has done a thing toward cleaning it up or re-opening it yet.  From the outside, it doesn't look all that bad, except for the forlorn looking parking area with the dead landscaping and the piles of sand and trash lying around.  Kinda sad looking.

They were pet friendly.  I always meant to bring my Siamese, Sadie, and spend some time there.

Well in that case, I really hope they fix it back up again.....I would love to bring my black lab Maggie to the island with me.  She would enjoy the beach so much.....she just loves the water.
