That is certainly possible.  I have been watching the webcams all day.  The water sure looks rough.  So many whitecaps.

No pictures of yesterday's race, I'm afraid.  Lurker was present with his camera, but I don't think he got anything.  Actually watching the race from the shore was a complete bust.  Seas were kinda rough, so the boats stayed out pretty far from shore, and since it was sorta hazy at their distance out, we could just barely make out a sail or two with Lynnie's high powered binoculars.  I never saw anything worth taking a picture of.  We were all hanging out under your favorite hotel, the Flagship, waiting for the boats to arrive, so when it turned out to be a non-event for us, we just gave up and ran across the street to Fish Tales.

Heck, we didn't really care that much, because we were just hunting an excuse to party, anyway. So, we ate and drank and visited, and got over our disappointment real quick..  Smile

I didn't bring a wide angle lens, so I didn't get any group shots.

     Awesome shots, Lurker!!

Even if like dawg says, too far out to get any real good ones, these pics are a boost to these landlocked fourm members.

thank you.  glad you are back.

    see ya

Good shots, lurker, especially considering the complete lack of favorable conditions for picture taking.  I didn't think you got anything at all, because it looked impossible to me, so I would have given up completely on it.  Of course, you ain't inclined to accept defeat that easily.  I should have known better than to say that there were no pictures.  Smile

Having been there and tried that, I'm impressed.  Good job, old man.

Thanks, Lurker, I was pretty sure I could count on you.  I understand about the haze and the distance.  I was thinking the boats would have colorful sails and be closer to shore.  Shows how much of a desert rat I am.  We did get some rain from Dolly in the wee hours of the morning.  2.8 inches to be precise.  Almost half of our yearly total in 1 day.  El Paso got it again, too.

If it was easy, anyone could do it.

I don't remember seeing them that close in.. I saw little hazy specs next to a big hazy ship. Lurker , does your lens get them that close... that didn't sound right. is your lens that strong to be able to capture the boats... or did the boats come in closer when we went across the street and you were MIA for a while?

Did anybody see the galveston paper today about the races... they got a shot of Lynniebell taking a pic of the sailboats.Smile

NMLady Lynnie was worried about you and the rain ... she made me check the posts to see if you were ok

I saw the paper too.  Looks like it was mo' bettah to watch on Saturday than it was on Friday.  Also, I noticed that the article said the boats were out quite a ways, and then turned and came closer to shore before actually heading back to where they came from.  I guess on Friday, we gave up a bit too quickly.  Somehow I got interested in food and libations and forgot the original mission.  Seems like this bunch tends to do that. Smile

I had one of the Pilots (that handle ingoing and outgoing vessels) come in the other night.  He said he and his wife were going sailing but up in Rhode Island of all places.
