I am coming with my family at the end of july and we are staying at Commodore on the Beach.  Is this a good place to stay. My husband wanted to stay on the beach and this one looked pretty nice. Just wanted some input.

It's been a long time since I spent a night there, but it's a good hotel.  Fairly old, but clean and well kept, and it's centrally located on Seawall Blvd. kinda handy to a lot of stuff.  It's a sort of a misnomer to say that it is "on the beach", but it's as close to the beach as you can get, right across Seawall Blvd from the Seawall and the beach below.  Just walk across the street and down some nearby stairs to the beach.  And most rooms have a view of the Gulf due the the way the building is constructed.  I know several people who come to the island often who wouldn't stay anywhere else.  I would say you made a nice choice.
