If my memory serves me, this event did not occur last year, thanks Ike. Does anyone know if there will a regatta this year. CBeth?

That's the way I remember it, too, Lynnie.  It would have been held only six weeks or so following Ike, and things on the island were a long, long way from normal at that time.  But, I seem to remember having seen something somewhere to the effect that it would be held this year though. Sure hope so.  I enjoyed watching them all leave Galveson in 2007, escorted by the Elissa.  First time I had ever seen it, and I got a kick out of it.

I think that was one our early cyber tribe meetings.  That could be a fun thing to do again if they are gonna have it.

    You copying this, Cbeth?

If it is held this year, then yes, we should try for another tribe gathering.

Sorry I don't check in here as often as I used to. Dixie's right, it's the 1st of October. And yup, ELISSA was part of the 2007 race. Hopefully one of these years we'll get to put her in it again.

    So....where was everybody today? Surprise

We looked for some of you guys, but never saw a soul.  We met a lady on the seawall taking pictures who happened to be the wife of the captain of that converted Coast Guard Cutter that is escorting the boats.  She explained a lot of stuff about the regatta to me and Peg that we didn't know.  Of course she didn't make much of a dent in what me and Peg don't know, but it was nice of her to try.

We had a late afternoon lunch up on the top deck of the Spot afterwards.  Sure did miss y'all.

Well, crud! I'm either talking when I should be listening, or listening when I should be talking.  Guess I'm falling into a bad habit of just lurking and assuming everybody is reading my mind.

So.... does this mean that my mental telepathy ain't working? Indifferent

Good point I guess, Cat.  I coulda called somebody if I had been thinking (assuming I had the right digits), but then the operative word here is "thinking", and as we all know, I've always been a little challenged in that direction. Stick out tongue

Anyway, I've been on this here now forum and it's predecessor like five or six years now, and nothing has changed about my digits  (except that they are more arthritic now than they used to be), but if you guys wanna start a new directory, it's okay by me.  I'm too lazy to start one myself, but I'll chime in if needed.
