  • Reef Resort?
    05-22-2009 10:55 AM

    Hi all,

We come to Galveston every summer and have stayed at the Reef Resort the past few years. We love that hotel and so do our two dogs :) I have tried to call them a few times yesterday and today with no answer and no recording. Does anyone know if they are open or not...? If not, are they any other hotels that are open that allow dogs? We are hoping to come June 3 - June 5. Thanks so much!!

The last time I drove by the Reef, it was still closed.  I don't think they are opening anytime soon.  Try LaQuinta, most allow pets and there are 2 in Galveston.  One of the east end and one of the west end of Galveston.

    Good Luck!

What a long, strange trip its been!!

Thanks so much for the reply!! That makes the sad the Reef isn't open... we will be moving to Lubbock soon and don't know when we will get another chance to come back for awhile.

How is the island doing overall? Are there a lot of things open or are things still struggling to recover? So sad!!

I think overall, it is doing pretty good.  There are a lot of businesses open now.  Still just a handful on the Strand but there are shops opening every week!

The beaches have been pretty packed on the weekends and will start to be daily with school closing for the Summer.

There are many more people finally getting back into their homes as well, but still a lot of work to do on many homes.  Some people are just now gutting their homes.  I'm guessing insurance companies are finally starting to pay!

Have fun when ya'll come down!

We evacuated NOLA for Katrina and stayed at the Reef.  Brought the dog too. That was a super super place and we really hope it comes back.  Any updates would be appreciated.  How about that train museum and the aircraft museum?
