    I am 90% sure she will reopen. The lady that owns the Firm is talking about having a halloween block party , I bet MOD will be a sponsor, I ask when I see her

    New owners sought for Mod Coffee House

    Disturbing but thankfully false rumors were making the rounds last week that Mod Coffee House, 2126 Postoffice St., would not reopen.

    The popular downtown coffee shop, which was flooded by Hurricane Ike, will reopen, just under a new owner. Angela Brown has been meeting with interested parties to take over the downtown hangout for medical students, and island movers, shakers and the opinionated, giving her more time to spend with her family and to travel.

    Brown’s son, Matthew, and his wife Jaime Jennings, created Mod seven years ago. Matthew and wife are in Colorado. Angela and husband Craig also have a son who lives in Austin. The couple owns several island properties and say they remain committed to the post-storm restoration of downtown.

    Angela Brown figured that while the shop was under repair, it was a good opportunity to let a new owner take part in the build-out, she said.

    Brown had been planning for some time to retire from the coffee house business. Alas, the process of finding a new owner likely will push the opening of the shop to February.

    Sounds like the present owners had this place thrown into their laps.... maybe the new owner will be a bit more passionate about the biz.. Keep ya chin up ... not all change is bad!!! Wink

     A friend that is working a project on Post Office called me this morning and said that there are "For Rent" signs in the window at MOD. Anyone have any insight?

     that should be the new motto for G-town...A little work has been done...all over the Island!    Galveston folks are doing great!

    It is open and it was packed when I walked by there on my way to Rudy & Paco's for lunch!

    That cam was moved to Sky Bar after Ike.  We'd like to return one to Mod, but those trees (that hold the cam) are dead, and we're waiting to see what happens - being cut down, replaced, etc.

    It may be time to move it back. MOD has been rockin and rolling everytime I have been by there. Pre-Ike they were the glue that pulled Post Office together, Post Ike they are the mortar that is bringing it back!
