Attention former employees, residents and guests - Flip through your photo albums, wedding books and honeymoon photos for historic photos that could be a fit for Hotel Galvez 100th anniversary book. Hotel Galvez will turn 100 in 2011 and staff is working with Gary Cartwright, author of “Galveston – A History of the Island,” to publish a commemeorative book. The book will be released in December 2010.

Photos and stories can be posted on the Hotel Galvez Facebook Page or mailed to Hotel Galvez Marketing & Sales, 2024 Seawall Blvd., Galveston, TX 77550. Duplicate photos or digital photos, rather than original photos, are requested as they will not be returned. Hotel Galvez is also looking for momentos that could be donated or loaned to the hotel for a Hall of History display. This could include dishes, souvenir items, menus, etc. Check your attics, china cabinets and other hiding places for these great treasures. The hotel is planning a series of events in 2011 including a grand ball in conjunction with the June 10 opening of the hotel as well as a variety of smaller events and activities. More details to be announced. Hotel Galvez has been "Queen of the Gulf" for 98 years and still stands proudly on the beachfront.
