I hope you got to the recent Epicurean Evening at Moody Gardens. I went with some friends and we had a fabulous time. Dozens of local restaurants were there with samples of their very best items, wine and beer purveyors poured generously, a free photo booth allowed us to clown around and take home a souvenir, and there was even a silent auction.
The place was packed but it appeared that the food supply was up to the challenge. I had some favorites, the Killer Chicken Salad from Mosquito, Bread Pudding from Rudy and Paco's, and some little pecan squares from the Moody Gardens Hotel--which by the way had THE most beautiful display!
Kudos to the Galveston College Culinary Arts program, which in addition to great food, was the only booth to offer theirs on paper plates rather than plastic. Perhaps next year others will go in that greener direction! Anyway, don't miss this event when it comes around again next fall. It is a win-win, restaurants get to strut their stuff and we get to enjoy it!
