Breakfast at Star Drug

We have friends in town for Mardi Gras, so we all went out to Star Drug for a late breakfast. They have done a fantastic job refurbishing the place post-Ike (take a look at the water line and you'll be amazed!), and the food is as fine as ever. I had the "Islander" Omelette, with cheese, bell pepper, onion and tomato. I substituted one of their tasty biscuits for toast. Add to that the bottomless cup of good coffee and I was set for a day of Mardi Gras-ing.  My friends all had the Egg Plate with various combinations of sausage, bacon and grits; all comments were favorable.  Of course while I was there I had to check out the baubles in the various cabinets, and picked up a festive pin to add to my adornment.

I was not impressed with my one breakfast there pre-Ike. Service was slow and my "Islander" came with raw vegtables that apparently were tossed on top of the eggs after they were taken off the grille. I have heard some good things lately, and have been meaning to go back, but there are so many other places that made a better first impression.
